The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is offering a
Volunteer Naturalist Training Class at the Elkhorn Slough National
Estuarine Research Reserve (ESNERR) in Monterey County.

The introductory orientation training class on Saturday, Jan. 12 will
be for anyone interested in research and stewardship. Attendees will be
able to use their class experience in roles they may take as volunteer
wildlife monitors, habitat restorers, maintenance assistants,
administrative support or other projects.

In addition, applicants can participate in naturalist training
classes which will cover ecology, biology, current and past research at
the reserve, ongoing reserve projects, cultural histories,
interpretation skills, communication techniques, trail mechanics and
educational activities.

Advanced sessions are open to potential ESNERR volunteers who have
completed the introductory class. Advanced classes are every Saturday in
February with graduation scheduled for Saturday, March 9.
