East Cape - The day after

East Cape - The day after [/url]

Finally, time to sit down, look at photos we have captured and put together an overdue fish report.  Fishing everyday for more than 2 weeks straight, working on equipment that needs attention, preparing for a hurricane that passed us by and taking care of all the other responsibilities of an owner has forced me to put reports on the back burner until now.

After being on a roll and cleaning up in recent tournaments the fish gods turned their backs on the Jen Wren fleet for the East Cape Off Shore held the first 3 days of the month.  The day after the tournament the tide turned and we have been doing some damage.

Last week we had two tropical storms heading our way at the same time.  Following tropical weather for almost 30 years I had never seen anything like it and wasn't sure what to do.  In the end one dissipated and the other turned into Hurricane John.  Luckily we dodged the bullet and John steered northwest into the Pacific just dumping a substantial amount of rain on us.  With not much wind and some anglers that were game we never skipped a beat and operated everyday right through it.

The storm dropped our sea temp 5 degrees but the gamefish didn't seem to mind.  Tuna has been the main event and a nice grade of fish have been putting smiles on anglers faces.  The tuna are being found chunking on high spots and also on schools of porpoise. Blue and striped marlin have also been active with a dorado and wahoo or two in the mix.

Belive it or not all four of these anglers name is Conrad Baumgartner.  The day after Palumbo smacked 'em on the Yummee they didn't want it for Baumgartner.  We switched up to chunk squid and bendo!
