Lead Heads
#1
What is your thoughts on lead heads. Is fishing guys like Warbaits and Reebs give the angler the advantage for a big fish offering? Or guys like Lead masters orginal style baits work just as good?

I think if you have confidence in what you're throwing. You will do great, I been having good luck w scroungers jig head. So I stick with it.

x2 on that. i like the swim on the warbaits but i've caught more fish over the years with the standard heads. All about where and how you present your bait, and what kind of a response your looking for from the fish. Are you looking for a feeding bite, are you looking for an aggressive reaction bite, or are you trying to piss the fish off? Whatever your tactic may be apply that to how your fishing and rock and roll.

i have fished a number of lead heads over the years, getting them to retrieve correctly is a big factor, also is it true lead or other crap molded in with it? it all depends on like above mentioned. the reaction and the way your fishing!

very hard to find pure lead in lead heads. i know Dolphin tackle who makes weights for all of the big distributors uses pure lead, but dont know about lead masters. Pure lead is not good for lead heads in my opinion. too soft. especially in the smaller sizes. you bend the barb on the lead head too easily and break it off when you snag a rock, then you have to toss the head cause theres nothing to hold it on. I like to use a mixture on tin and lead. Doesnt affect the weight too drastically, and tin is a lot harder than lead. only bad thing is it is a little harder to pour because it dries so much quicker and likes to clog in the mold tunnels

Yes i know sometimes there is zinc mixed in, ive actually tried to look for pure zinc cause its not as toxic as lead, but i have yet to find it. As for aluminum, good luck trying to get that to melt. lol. melting point is 1220 degrees fahreinheit.
