The San Diego 4/22/18
#1
I saw an Instagram post that the Coronado’s had turned off and that the San Diego would be heading offshore today. This was perfect for me because I do not have a passport. I’ve been waiting for a chance at some yellowtail and this was it. We patty hopped all day and got full Mexican limits for 15 anglers plus crew. Most fish were caught on fly lined sardines and surface irons with a couple coming on a trolled cedar plug. My weapon of choice was the surface iron bringing me 2 fish and a couple that popped off at the boat. My goal for the year was to get my first fish on the surface iron and I got 2 in the same day!
