Why Mercury for your Outboard
#1
Recently i have been to a couple of boat/fishing shows and have heard Yamaha vs Mercury. the same old story as Ford or Chevy. Well as it turns out i have owned both and did some research on the two. Both are great engines and both are very similar in sizes and weights.
How ever the mercury set up has a few things that are better, one is the Corrosion factor. This factor in lame mans terms is it basically has a hard anodizing over the entire motor. Thus making it a better Salt Water set. Two is the internal engine design, the Mercury has a longer stroke and larger bore. This said more efficient for power and fuel economy. with these 2 things said and having gone from a Yamaha to Mercury. Granted 2 stroke to 4 stoke, the smoothness and quietness of the mercury is bar none as well the service is very easy. I do how ever recommend taking it to a shop, like Quality Performance Marine. As well the service is being done they can connect to the computer and do a quick diagnostic review and see any issues, preventive maintenance! Also the warranty factor, Mercury offers a corrosion detail that Yamaha does not, as well the 3 year standard warranty from Mercury can be extended to go up to 8 years!
So all in all In My Honest Opinion The mercury is a better product with better warranty, to stand behind without a said Limited warranty is a big statement as well the performance factor.
